Who wants to watch the first fully AI generated TED talk? Not me.
Who wants to watch the first fully AI generated TED talk?
Yeah, me neither.
Ok, well I did and now I’m curious to know what you think.
It was written entirely by ChatGPT and then ‘brought to life’ by an artist and a storyteller.
To me, it’s like all AI writing at the moment- it’s so close to being human, but essentially soulless. The words are meaningful but easy to ignore, and having watched it yesterday, I had completely forgotten what it was about by today.
And it cheats (quel surprise)- it uses music, which is the ultimate emotion manipulator.
If you enjoyed watching and found it moving, imagine it with no music. Would you feel the same?
At the end of the day, I just wonder - what’s the point?
I don’t imagine TED suddenly saying let’s make all our talks AI- this was a stunt and an intriguing one.
The real question is, does AI have the power to solve the world’s biggest problems? Is it curious enough or motivated enough to tackle hunger, poverty, inequality, education?
Because that's really what TED is about- it's a platform for people who have ideas about how to make the world better.
All watching this video really made me feel was, thank goodness for humans.
Want a real human to help you write your TEDx talk? That’s what I do
