Can ChatGPT write your TEDx talk?
Your favorite LLM is an amazing way to get a jump on writing your TEDx talk or pitch.
But here’s why you need to be very careful before you let it do too much of the heavy lifting…
This is a picture of me.
Kind of.
It’s an AI image created from a source photo of me in exactly this position, on this stage, but frowning. So I said, please make me smile.
And it did a pretty great job. It's 99% me.
That's a huge amount me, right? Yes, but anyone who knows me can immediately tell that it’s not.
How?
Well, that bit is actually hard to put your finger on.
It’s just FEELS wrong.
The 1% that isn't quite right is enough to undermine the entire credibility of the photo.
And that’s what ChatGPT can do to your hashtag#TEDx, or any speech.
It’s an incredible tool for saving you time, trying out ideas, and making the writing process much less daunting.
But remember- it’s a tool that is only as effective as its outcome.
Just like you can tell this photo is AI generated.
Your audience can tell when your talk was written by ChatGPT.
It has 99% of the right ingredients but the missing 1% is where the credibility hangs.
So by all means use your favorite LLM to start your next talk, use it to write the first few drafts, but after that.. ask a human.
Ask a human to gut check your idea and how you’re communicating it
Ask a human to help you write or edit the script
Ask a human to practice with
Ask a human to check your slides
Ask a human if it sounds… human.
If you want to make your TEDx dream a reality, here’s how I help.
